Boundaries
The wetland is situated at east of Ciayuan Harbor; it extends north to County Road 205 excluding communities, south to Caiyuan Fish Pond, and east to County Road 201.

Introduction
Local residents constructed fish ponds east of Caiyuan during the period of Japanese rule (1895-1945) and the fish ponds were gradually expanded after 1945. Farmers ceased fish pond farming in 1971. Since then, the wetland has become the best place for migratory birds to winter and rest.

Ecological resources of importance
Species of birds include Black-faced Spoonbill, Peregrine Falcon, Black-winged Stilt and Skylark. Plants include Kandelia obovata and Cassia sophora var. penghuana.
