  • Introduction

This wetland encompasses the forest, lake and marsh, and is home to many wildlife animals and birds. The area is remote with minimal human interference, thus keeping the natural state of the habitat, and the precious natural resources and landscape are preserved. In terms of strategic concerns for preserving lakes and wetland in Taiwan, this wetland also holds a special status.

  • Ecological resources of importance

The elevation of the wetland is between 1,670 and 2,432 m. Vegetation is distributed between 1,700 and 2,100 m, which is a 400-m difference only. The vegetation is already limited by temperature and humidity. There is hardly any influence from the elevation change. The plant community here includes aquatic plants in the lake and the helophytes because of the damp soil. In the forest from the lakeshore wetland to the mountain, Formosan Hinoki is the dominant species. The lake is 3.6 hectares with pristine water. There are a few aquatic plants species near the shore and in the shallow water, including the floating plant, Potamogeton distinctus, and emergents such as Sparganium fallax graebn and Schoenoplectus mucronatus (L.) Palla subsp. robustus (Miq.) T. Koyama, forming an independent community.
